Procedure

Step-by-step reconstitution

  1. 01

    Prepare and disinfect

    Wash your hands, work on a clean surface and disinfect the stopper of both vials with isopropyl alcohol; let it dry.

  2. 02

    Let it reach room temperature

    If the lyophilized vial was refrigerated, allow it to reach room temperature before reconstituting.

  3. 03

    Draw the solvent

    Draw the calculated volume of bacteriostatic water with a sterile syringe.

  4. 04

    Add along the wall

    Tilt the vial and inject the solvent slowly against the inner wall, not directly onto the powder.

  5. 05

    Do not shake

    Swirl the vial gently or let it stand until dissolved. Shaking can denature and aggregate the peptide.

  6. 06

    Inspect

    The solution should be clear and free of particles. If it is cloudy or has particles, discard it.

  7. 07

    Label and store

    Record the compound, the concentration and the reconstitution date, and store it refrigerated and protected from light.

Storage and stability

  • Refrigerate the reconstituted vial (usually 2–8 °C) and protect it from light.
  • Bacteriostatic water contains benzyl alcohol as a preservative; plain sterile water does not and shortens shelf life.
  • Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles: they degrade and aggregate the peptide.
  • Always respect the expiry indicated by the manufacturer after reconstitution.
